About Dalmalit

Dalmalit works the Dolačka ljut field in the hills behind Omiš, some fifty kilometres south-east of Plano. Ljut is the local word for the bare, sharp karst that nothing grows on, and the field is named after it.

Out of it comes Dolit, a warm beige limestone with quiet grey and brown veining. It takes up very little water, which is why it is chosen where stone stands out in the weather all year: promenades, terraces, public ground.

That same tight structure, the one that keeps it standing outdoors, is what makes it a worktop stone once it is polished, and a stone for the interior details people look at from close up.

The seafront promenade on Pag is laid in Dolit from this field. Public ground by the sea is the hardest test a limestone can be given: salt, sun, the bura and a year-round tread, and nothing but rain to wash it.
